(HBO) - The provincial Gifted School of Training and Competing Physical Education and Sports held a conference to summarize its work in 2019 and deploy its tasks in 2020.

Under the authorization, the leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism are awarding the certificates of merit to individuals getting the outstanding achievements in the national and the regional sports tournaments.

In 2019, the school is paying great attention to the work of political and ideological education, solidarity, democracy and effective operation. The apparatus of the school is quickly consolidated and the quality of training and coaching has been gradually improved. The achievements in the regional and the national sports tournaments have achieved the outstanding results. They have well organized the provincial sports competitions and the national sports tournaments. They have been effectively managing and exploiting the sports facilities and Hoa Binh Square and have successfully completed the set targets.

During the year, the school recruited 162 athletes to compete in 18 regional and national sports tournaments. The results were as follows: They won 31 gold medals, 22 silver medals and 28 bronze medals. The outstanding achievements were 10 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals won at the Young Mountain Bicycle Championship and the National Mountain Bicycle Championship. Another was that they won the first prize of the whole team with 6 gold medals, 7 gold medals, 4 bronze medals at the Ethnic Minority Sports Competition nationwide.

In the school year of 2019-2020, the school are training 95 students in 7 sport gifted classes. They have had 2 enrollment periods. They recruited 17 students in the first one, and 22 students in the second one. The total number of students admitted was 39/44 students (reaching 88.6% of the enrollment target). Annually, the periodic tests are organized to assess the students’ achievements.

The conference has set out five key tasks for 2020.

At the conference, under the authorization of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, they also gave the certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 12 individuals (5 coaches, 7 athletes) for the outstanding achievements in the national and the regional sports tournaments.
