(HBO) - Carrying out the campaign "All people train their body following the example of the great Uncle Ho”, in recent years, the movement of physical training and sports in the area of Dong Tan commune (Mai Chau) is lively with many rich and diverse activities. Thereby, a civilized lifestyle has been formed, increasing solidarity among the people. At the same time, they have actively been training the health to effectively carry out the socio-economic development tasks, ensuring order and security.

Currently there are 714 households with 2,768 people, living in 8 hamlets in the whole commune. The movement of physical training and sport in the area has been developing wide in the villages and the hamlets with a total of over 40% of households participating in the training. Depending on the hobbies, the ages and health, each person chooses for oneself a suitable kind of sports. Football, volleyball, badminton ... are the sports attracting many people to participate. In particular, the young people, the women and the elderly are a positive force, promoting the physical sports movement in the area. Currently, in the whole commune there are 12 teams and groups that maintain daily exercise activities in the villages and the hamlets. From the mass sports movement, the selection and fostering of the typical athletes have been selected and fostered to participate in the competitions organized by the communes and the district.

In order to create a useful playground for the people, every year the commune directs the appropriate authorities, the villages and the hamlets to organize from 3 to 4 tournaments on the occasion of holidays and New Year, creating a joyful atmosphere and pushing back the social evils at the same time. They have also been organizing exchanges and competitions with neighbouring communes to learn, improve the professional qualifications and increase the solidarity.

In addition to maintaining mass sports, the people in the commune are particularly interested in preserving and promoting the value of the ethnic sports. In particular, they have been maintaining regular practice for tug of war, throwing cotton balls, pushing sticks to take part in the competition on the occasion of new year.

In the coming time, the commune will continue to propagate and mobilize the people to actively respond to the campaign "All people train their body following the example of the great Uncle Ho”. They have been strengthening practice and diversifying different types of sports, focusing on key sports. They have also been calling on businesses and business establishments in the area to build the socialization fund. They continue to create a useful playground for health training, creating a lively emulation atmosphere among the people. Thereby, it has been contributing to the successful implementation of tasks and goals of the local socio-economic development.
