The forest protection group of Na Phat village, Pu Bin commune (Mai Chau) regularly patrols and prevents the acts of encroaching forest resources on time.

The area of protection forests are large with many precious forest products, playing an important role in regulating water sources for lowland communes, so the Party Committee and the commune authorities always pay attention to leading people to perform well the tasks of the forest protection.

Mr. Khà Văn Liêm, the chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Bin commune says that determining the importance of the forest protection for the socio-economic development during the past years, the commune, the related branches and the district’s forest rangers have promoted the propaganda and have mobilized people to raise the awareness of the forest protection. The commune has been actively grasping the area, regularly organizing the patrols according to the monthly plan and building the regulations in coordination with the residential areas. Besides, the commune has been always paying attention to the propaganda on the Law on Forest Protection and Development.

The commune instructs the villages and the hamlets to set up a forest patrol and forest protection team, including the chief of the hamlet, the police and the militia. The patrols are organized once or twice a month. They promptly detect and handle the violations of the forest resources. Through village and hamlet meetings, the village leaders, the secretaries of the Party cell have promoted the propaganda, signing the commitments with people, building coordination regulations on forest protection.

At present, each village establishes a forest protection group of six to ten people. Every year, the agency units getting the forest management and protection contracts in the commune are entitled to receive support according to the policy on payment for forest environmental services.
