(HBO) - The 2020-2021 school year is the first year to officially implement the new general education programme which was issued in 2018, from Grade 1. Due to the impact of COVID-19 over the past time, the education and training sector has to close schools for over three months. The remaining time is very short, so the sector has to quicken the preparation for the official introduction of the new general education programme in schools.

The first task is selecting textbooks for Grade 1 students. Previously, there was only one set of textbooks for Grade 1 at all schools, but in the 2020-2021 academic year, the country will have five sets of textbooks for schools to choosefrom.

In May, the provincial Department of Education and Training coordinated with the board compiling textbooks on the locality at primary school level to pilot the usage of locally-compiled textbooks on the culture, history and tradition; politics-society and environment; geography, economy and vocational guidance in Hoa Binh.

The department has also increased training of education managerial staff and teachers in using the new programme./.
