In the first quarter of 2023, Hoa Binh posted growth of 3.88% in gross regional domestic product (GRDP), including 4.19% in the agro-forestry-fishery sector, 2.92% in industry and construction, and 5.6% in the service sector, while tax revenue from products was down 0.55%.

Meanwhile, the State budget collection approximated 1.64 trillion VND (nearly 70 million USD) by the end of May, equivalent to 31% of the target set by the Government and 91% of the value recorded in the same period last year.

Hoa Binh was assigned by the Government with more than 10 trillion VND in public investment capital from the State budget for this year. Of that sum, it has allocated over 5.49 trillion VND, or 54%, to projects. About 608.7 billion VND, or 6% of the plan, had been disbursed as of April 30.

As of May 15, the province recorded 157 newly established businesses, equivalent to 77% of the figure in the same period last year and 33% of this year’s target.

At the meeting, participants analysed obstacles and shortcomings, and submitted proposals on several issues.

On behalf of Hoa Binh leaders, Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, provided further information about the local socio-economic situation and pointed out difficulties and hindrances to development. He proposed the Government and the Prime Minister increase the decentralisation of power for local administrations and tackle problems relevant to public investment, changes of land use purposes, forest land management, regulations on fire prevention and control, lending interest rates, and adjustments to land use planning.

He proposed the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as other ministries and sectors, will continue paying attention to and handle Hoa Binh’s proposals early in order to help the province reach the socio-economic targets set by the Government and the Prime Minister.

In his remarks, Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Science and Technology, highly valued the province’s encouraging results in production, business, public investment, infrastructure building, and foreign trade amid numerous difficulties in the first months of 2023.

He asked the province to promote the sense of responsibility among leaders of agencies and units. He also told relevant ministries and sectors to work with Hoa Binh to devise solutions to outstanding problems or report difficulties to the Government and the Prime Minister for settlement.

On this occasion, Hoa Binh officials presented flowers to congratulate the minister on the Vietnam Science and Technology Day, May 18./.
