(HBO) – A delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by member of the Party Central Committee and Minister Huynh Thanh Dat had a working session with leaders of Hoa Binh province on May 18 to look into production, business, and public investment facilitation, infrastructure building, and foreign trade of the locality.
Local officials at the event included Nguyen Phi Long,
alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial
Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial
Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Bui Van
Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the
provincial People’s Committee.

At the event, provincial leaders reported on the
local production, business, investment, and foreign trade situation, along with
obstacles and solutions.
In the first quarter of 2023, Hoa Binh posted
growth of 3.88% in gross regional domestic product (GRDP), including 4.19% in
the agro-forestry-fishery sector, 2.92% in industry and construction, and 5.6%
in the service sector, while tax revenue from products was down 0.55%.
The index of industrial production in April
increased 15.85% year on year. The four-month exports rose 8.95% from a year
earlier to 493.642 million USD, accounting for 29.12% of this year’s target.
Meanwhile, the State budget collection approximated 1.64 trillion VND (nearly
70 million USD) by the end of May, equivalent to 31% of the target set by the
Government and 91% of the value recorded in the same period last year.
Hoa Binh was assigned by the Government with
more than 10 trillion VND in public investment capital from the State budget
for this year. Of that sum, it has allocated over 5.49 trillion VND, or 54%, to
projects. About 608.7 billion VND, or 6% of the plan, had been disbursed as of
April 30.
As of May 15, the province recorded 157 newly
established businesses, equivalent to 77% of the figure in the same period last
year and 33% of this year’s target.
At the meeting, participants analysed obstacles
and shortcomings, and submitted proposals on several issues.
On behalf of Hoa Binh leaders, Nguyen Phi Long,
alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial
Party Committee, provided further information about the local socio-economic
situation and pointed out difficulties and hindrances to development. He proposed
the Government and the Prime Minister increase the decentralisation of power
for local administrations and tackle problems relevant to public investment,
changes of land use purposes, forest land management, regulations on fire
prevention and control, lending interest rates, and adjustments to land use
planning.
He proposed the Ministry of Science and
Technology, as well as other ministries and sectors, will continue paying
attention to and handle Hoa Binh’s proposals early in order to help the province
reach the socio-economic targets set by the Government and the Prime Minister.
In his remarks, Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the
Party Central Committee and Minister of Science and Technology, highly valued
the province’s encouraging results in production, business, public investment,
infrastructure building, and foreign trade amid numerous difficulties in the
first months of 2023.
He asked the province to promote the sense of
responsibility among leaders of agencies and units. He also told relevant ministries
and sectors to work with Hoa Binh to devise solutions to outstanding problems
or report difficulties to the Government and the Prime Minister for settlement.

(HBO) - Setting up an altar worshipping President Ho Chi Minh, hanging his picture and offering incense and flowers on holidays and festivals has become a cultural practice in the lives of many families in the northern province of Hoa Binh. Particularly, on the occasion of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2), Hoa Binh people usually offer incense and flowers on the altar to show their respect to President Ho Chi Minh whom they refer to as Uncle Ho.
