Over the years, senior citizen affairs and the VAE in the province have received great attention from leaders of Hoa Binh. Local senior citizens have shown strong performance in implementing the Party and State’s policies and law, while joining hands in economic development and promoting the national cultural values.

The VAE at all levels have coordinated with other agencies to care for needy members, while cooperating with the provincial Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Department to implement support policies for 15,475 senior citizens in the locality.

Addressing the meeting, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, hailed the performance by provincial Party Committees and administration at all levels in the elderly affairs and the implementation of Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW.

He said he hopes Hoa Binh will continue to effectively realise the conclusion, while focusing on building a strategy on senior citizens for the new period.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee, said that in the coming time, the province will continue to popularlise and fully implement the Party and State’s orientations, policies and laws regarding the elderly, while improving the living conditions for the elderly, providing them with medical and legal support, diversifying methods of caring for them, and strengthening the mobilisation of resources for the province’s VAE.

The Hoa Binh leader proposed the strengthening of personnel training for the VAE to enhance its operational efficiency, the completion of organisation and operation models of the association at all levels, as well as policies for the elderly.

On the occasion, the VAE Central Committee awarded the "For the cause of protecting, caring and promoting the role of Vietnamese senior citizens” insignia to nine individuals, and presented 50 million VND (2,053 USD) to needy VAE members in Hoa Binh.
