Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on January 22 presented Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts to policy beneficiaries, poor households, people from ethnic minority groups, reputable people, and workers in Hoa Binh province.

Hoa Binh leaders at the event included Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

According to Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh People’s Committee, along with effectively implementing three national target programmes, Hoa Binh has focused on developing the local infrastructure system and supporting needy local residents in their production development.

The province has built 433 new houses for poor households from the Fund for the Poor. The rate of poor households in the locality has been reduced to 9.02% in 2023 from 12.9% in 2022. To date, the province has provided monthly support to 30,610 policy beneficiary people and 3,487 households and individuals who are taking care of people who rendered services to the nation, with a total cost of 210 billion VND (8.54 million USD).

Ahead of the upcoming Tet Festival, the province has provided 46,926 Tet gifts worth 20.3 billion VND to social beneficiary and poor households. Meanwhile, trade unions at all levels also presented 6,500 gift packages worth 4.5 billion VND to its members and workers.

Addressing a ceremony to present the gifts, Deputy PM Quang extended New Year greetings to the provincial Party Organisation, administration and locals, and expressed his delight at the locality’s socio-economic achievements. He described Hoa Binh as a bright spot in caring for policy beneficiaries and providing livelihood assistance to the poor towards sustainable poverty reduction.

Underlining the important position and role of Hoa Binh, Deputy PM Quang underlined the need for Hoa Binh to focus on implement major transport projects, while turning tourism into a spearhead sector, and promoting the local cultural identity.

On the occasion, the Deputy PM presented 1 billion VND to the provincial Fund for the Poor. He and Minister-Chairman of the Government Committee for Ethnic Affairs Hau A Lenh presented 644 Tet gifts to poor households, people from ethnic minority groups, reputable people and workers in Hoa Binh.
