Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, on February 28 presided over a monthly meeting of the provincial People’s Committee to assess the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in the first quarter of 2024.
Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party
Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, concludes the
meeting.
Participating delegates focused their discussions on a draft report on the
implementation of the socio-economic development plan for the first quarter, as
well as key tasks and solutions set for the second quarter of 2024.
In the first quarter, Hoa Binh’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was
estimated to reach 1.92%. Industrial production saw robust growth from the
first month, with the industrial production index estimated to increase by
around 5.5% compared to the same period last year.
The
province's export turnover exceeded 477 million USD, up 36.39% year-on-year.
The number of tourists to the province, meanwhile, amounted to some 1.6
million, an annual rise of 22.7%. Hoa Binh collected more than 1.2 trillion VND
(48.68 million USD) for the state budget, while giving the green light to three
domestic projects worth about 500 billion VND. Social security and public order
were also ensured.
However, the participants also pointed out that the province's GRDP growth and
public investment disbursement rate remained low, with land clearance and
compensation work facing many difficulties and delays.
They also gave opinions on a progress report of key projects in the province, a
draft decision of the provincial People's Committee on the approval of the
operation process of Mien Doi 2 hydropower reservoir in Lac Son district, and a
proposal for issuing the province’s investment promotion programme this year,
among many others.
In his remarks at the meeting, Khanh emphasised that the province's general
planning scheme has been approved, serving as a basis and driving force for its
growth.
However, there should be a plan for the implementation of the planning scheme,
he said, asking the Department of Planning and Investment to quickly develop
such a plan for submission to the Government on schedule.
It is also necessary to further adjust the province's land use planning
according to the province's general planning scheme, the official noted. For
projects that are slow in fulfilling financial tax obligations and businesses
with overdue tax debts, firm response measures should be taken, Khanh added.
He also requested that districts and cities review their personnel affairs to
arrange suitable officials with sufficient capacity for their positions.
In mid-May, the provincial Museum organised an exhibition named "Duoi la co Dang Cong san Viet Nam quang vinh” (Under the flag of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam).
