Officials of Hoa Binh province joining in a programme on promoting Vietnamese localities in the US and Canada began working sessions in New York on April 22. Other provinces participating in this programme, held by the Department for Local Diplomacy Facilitation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, include Yen Bai, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien - Hue, and Gia Lai.

During the working trip, Hoa Binh officials were divided into two delegations. The first was led by Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and the second by Nguyen Van Chuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The first Hoa Binh delegation visited and had a working session with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN. Officials of Hoa Binh and the other provinces were received by Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, along with the mission’s cadres in charge of military, consular, science - technology, trade, and press affairs.

Welcoming the provinces’ officials, Nguyen said this is the biggest delegation of Vietnamese localities the mission has received so far, and that it always attaches great importance to supporting Vietnamese localities in its performance of tasks at UN mechanisms and in bilateral cooperation activities.

During this time’s programme on promoting Vietnamese localities in the US and Canada, the mission will continue to actively assist the provinces to introduce their images, potential, advantages, key products, and specialities to international friends. In the time ahead, it will keep serving as a bridge for encouraging foreign investors to invest and do business in Vietnam, and also helping Vietnamese businesses carry out investment and business activities in the US as well as other countries around the world, according to the diplomat.

Also on April 22, the second Hoa Binh delegation visited and learned about the New York stock market at the headquarters of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Director of the NYSE Institute Will Goodwin received the delegation, guided the officials through the NYSE, and invited them to witness the ringing of the opening bell of the day’s trading session.

On April 23 morning (local time), the Vietnamese provinces’ delegation departed for Houston city to continue their working visit.
