Over the past time, members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and young people in Hoa Binh province have actively organised practical and meaningful activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024). The events offered opportunities for youth union members and young people to learn, arouse pride of a heroic time of their predecessors, and promote the sense of responsibility in the cause of national construction and defence.

The education of history and traditional cultural values, especially for young generations, is crucial. In an attempt to improve the attractiveness and effectiveness of history education, the province has introduced a local educational programme at all levels, providing interesting and meaningful insights and learning experiences for teachers and students such as the "Ring the golden bell” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, a thematic seminar with the participation of Nguyen Quoc An, a veteran who fought in the historical campaign.
Nguyen Duy Tu, Secretary of the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Committee, said the union’s responsibility and goal are to arouse patriotism and national pride among young people through practical and meaningful programmes, thereby helping young people understand the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland.
On this occasion, the provincial HCYU and Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ Organisation also awarded winners of a children’s drawing competition with theme "I am a Dien Bien little soldier" in 2024. The participating works hold a special meaning, showing a deep understanding while praising the great stature and the historical value of the Dien Bien Phu Victory as well as changes of the province nowadays.
In addition, there are several meaningful programmes such as "I love my Fatherland" – a journey to Dien Bien Phu with many activities to honour veterans and former youth volunteers who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
The programmes have helped union members, adolescents and children to have a better understanding about the country’s history while motivating and encouraging spirit and responsibility of young generations on the path of cultivation, training, striving and following their predecessors’ footsteps to contribute to the development of the homeland and the country.
In mid-May, the provincial Museum organised an exhibition named "Duoi la co Dang Cong san Viet Nam quang vinh” (Under the flag of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam). This meaningful activity took place in the joyful atmosphere to celebrate the country's major holidays and the Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress.
A delegation from Hoa Binh province led by Colonel Trinh Duc Thiem, Commander of the provincial Military Command, completed a mission to visit and encourage officers and soldiers stationed on Truong Sa and a DK1 platform from May 20 to 26 as part of activities of the Vietnam People’s Navy. The delegation included 12 senior officials from various provincial agencies and units.
Storytelling and painting contests honouring President Ho Chi Minh have been held at the Hoa Binh provincial Youth Activity Centre.
The Hoa Binh provincial People's Committee held a gathering at the provincial Military Command headquarters on May 20 to commend the armed forces that took part in a military parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30.
Throughout his revolutionary life, Uncle Ho visited Hoa Binh province four times. He also sent dozens of letters, telegrams, greeting cards, and heartfelt messages to local officials, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups, urging them to remain united, support one another, strive for progress, and actively engage in both production and resistance efforts to build a prosperous homeland.
To unlock the full potential of its forest resources, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on July 30, 2020 issued a Resolution on the sustainable development of production forests through 2025, with a vision toward 2030.
