Leaders of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee pay their last respects to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

After a period of severe illness, despite wholehearted treatment and care from the Party, State, leading experts, and his family, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away at 1:38pm on July 19 at Central Military Hospital 108 in Hanoi. He was 80.

For nearly 60 years of working, he made numerous enormous and particularly remarkable contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was honoured with the Gold Star Order, the 55-year Party membership badge, along with many other noble orders and medals of Vietnam and other countries. His passing is a great loss to the Party, the State, the people, and his family. To grieve and commemorate General Secretary Trong, the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee decided to hold a funeral for him in the national mourning etiquette.

At the respect-paying ceremony, on behalf of the Party organisation, administration, and people of all ethnic groups in Hoa Binh, leaders of the province expressed sadness over the passing of the Party chief. They pledged to continue maintaining solidarity within the Party, building a clean and comprehensively strong Party organisation, promoting the fight against degradation, enhancing people’s trust in the Party’s leadership, and turning pain into action to create momentum for developing the homeland and the country as the General Secretary wished.

While serving as Party General Secretary, he used to pay working visits to Hoa Binh in 2011, 2017, and 2022.
