(HBO) - As one of the localities with the exciting mass sports movement, spreading widely in the residential community, Lam Son commune (Luong Son) regularly wins high rankings at the competitions organized by the district and province. To achieve the above results, the Party committee and government have the appropriate authorities and the mass organizations to implement many solutions attracting and creating a useful playground so that the people can participate to improve their health and create a competitive spirit, actively contributing to the successful completion of socio-economic development tasks.

Crossbow shooting is a strong national sport of Lam Son commune, getting high achievements at the championships of crossbow shooting, tug of war, and stick pushing at the district’s and province’s levels. Currently, the commune has established "Lam Son crossbow shooting club” with 12 members, in which, some veteran athletes are over 70 years old. In order to preserve, maintain and promote the achieved achievements, the club members maintain practice and exchanges on the last Sunday of the month. They regularly exchange and share competition experiences and inspire the younger generation. They also compete and exchange with othet clubs inside and outside the province.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Phu from Rong Vong hamlet, says: "Crossbow shooting is a traditional sport attracting the participation of many people in the commune. Due to the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemics, the crossbow shooting club in Lam Son commune does not organize any competition to ensure the implementation of the safe conditions for the epidemic prevention. However, the club members still practice at home to have better skills and gain experience, ready for district’s and province’s competitions”.

According to the review, there are more than 15% of people regularly practice sports daily in the whole commune. In which, the sports attracting the participation of a large number of people are volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis... Depending on the age, the health and the interests to form the sporrts teams, groups and clubs. Currently, the members of te Youth Communist Union, the women and the elderly are the core forces, they enthusiastically participate in practice activities. According to the statistics, there are 15 volleyball courts, 1 football field in thye whole commune... In addition, some families in the area have taken advantage of the garden to practice table tennis.

In order to create a useful playground for the people in the area, the communal Party Committee and authorities have strengthened propaganda and mobilization of villages and hamlets in the area so that the people actively practice sports. The socialization work has been well performed, calling for businesses, organizations and individuals in the area to support the annual budget of over 20 million dongs. Thereby, there are more resources to organize tournaments, purchase and equip a system of facilities for practice at the facility. Every year, the commune maintains from 5 to 8 sports tournaments attracting the people’s participation to improve their professional skills. Thereby, it also helps select and foster the typical athletes representing the commune to participate in the sports tournaments organized by the district and the province. On average, the commune trains and provides over 20 excellent athletes to practice the district's sports teams every year.

Mr. Le Xuan Cuong, the Chairman of Lam Son People's Committee says: "In order for the movement of sports and physical training in the area to continue to develop and spread among the population, the Party committee and government will propagate and mobilize the people to actively practice sports to improve their health in the coming times. The funds will be allocated to maintain the competitions, to upgrade the physical system for training. We have identified the strong sports to focus on fostering and achieving high results at the competitions held by the district and province. At the same time, it helps contributing to increasing the people's solidarity, successfully implementing the tasks and goals of socio-economic development ".
