The mass sports movement is increasingly thriving, achieving many outstanding results, spreading strongly to all the districts and the city, spreading widely among all classes of people. By many rich and diverse activities, which are suitable to the actual situations and conditions of each locality, the number of people participating in regular sports and physical training activities, the number of the sports households, the number of sports clubs at the grassroot levels, the sports collaborators have been increasing year by year. Last year, the number of people participating in regular sports training was 292,118 people, accounting for 25.9% of the total population; the number of the sports households was 57,339 households, accounting for 34.2% of the total number of the households; there were 825 sports clubs at the grassroot levels; 466 sports instructors were trained; nearly 200 sports tournaments with over 31,680 participants from grassroots to provincial levels were organized. The cultural and sports institutions at the grassroot levels were invested in new construction, they were also renovated and repaired to serve the training and competition needs of the people.
A number of organizations and individuals have developed the models of diverse sports business, creating the favorable conditions for the people of all ages to participate in health training. Many localities have been maintaining and developing the key sports. In schools, agencies and the units of the armed forces, the sport and physical training movement has had many positive changes with the activities contributing to health training and physical improvement to serve learning and production. The people working in the sports sector in the province have also faced many difficulties and challenges since the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemics. In 2021, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed to well perform the advisory work on the State management, promoting the movement and improving the quality of the sports activities in the province. After a period of postponement, the localities have started to organize sports congresses at the grassroots levels, towards the 7th Provincial Sports Congress in 2022 and the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022.
Mr. Dao Tien Cuong, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: "The key task in 2022 is that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will closely coordinate with the specialized sub-committees of the Central Organizing Committee, the appropriate departments and branches in the province to successfully organize the cycling event in the program of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31); continuing to direct the districts and the city to organize the sports congresses at all levels according to the set plan”.
In parallel with the mass sports movement, the province's high-achievement sports are also constantly developing, gradually affirming the position in the national and regional arenas. Also, many young promising talents have emerged from the mass sports movement, contributing to the province's high achievements. In 2021, Hoa Binh sports won 29 medals (8 gold, 4 silver and 17 bronze medals) when competing in 9 regional and national sports tournaments. The number of the athletes reaching the level of masters, the national level I, and the number of athletes sommoning for the young teams and the national teams have been increasing.
As the only unit training the talents of high-achievement sports for the province, after 12 years of establishment, the Provincial Gifted School for Sports Training Competition, has made remarkable development. The quality of training, the level of the staff, the teachers and the coaches have been gradually improved to meet the development requirements of high-achievement sports in the new period. Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, the school's principal says: "The school determines that 2022 is a year with many big sports events and activities. As a result, right from the beginning of the year, we have set out specific plans in order to successfully complete the tasks and targets assigned by the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
By the end of March, the school's students, athletes and coaches will have participated in 5 big competitions, including cycling, marathon, weight-lifting, karate and taekwondo. With the best professional preparation and the highest determination, it is hoped that the students will get many medals. At the same time, we are actively preparing for the Provincial Football Championship and the XXX Traditional Marathon Championships of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup, which is expected to be held in April. These are the competitions in the program of the Sports Congress at all levels…”
