(HBO) – Seventy anglers from 22 cities and provinces across the nation took part in the first Hoa Binh fishing contest, which opened at Ngoi Hoa Bay, Suoi Hoa commune, Tan Lac district, on October 28. The contest is held in the framework of the first Da River fish and shrimp festival, the agricultural fair and exhibition of OCOP products of the northern midland and mountainous area in 2023.

Engaging in the contest that features three categories of lure fishing, handlining, and lancer fishing, anglers were free to choose the types of fishing rods and baits. Those with the largest catch would the competition. A "stylist” prize was given to the angler who had the best outfit and the most standout fishing tool, and created a good image for sport fishing.

After a thrilling competing day, the organising board presented the first prize to Hoang Ngoc Bo from Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province, the second prize to Nguyen Van Lan from Sam Son city, Thanh Hoa province, and the third prize to Vu Minh Ngoc from Hoai Duc district, Hanoi.

Meanwhile, the first prizes in lure fishing, handlining and lancer fishing went to Nguyen Viet Trung from Binh Tan, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Trong Hieu from Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province, and Nguyen Xuan Toan from Ung Hoa district, Hanoi, respectively.

The "stylist” prize was given to Nguyen Duc Chinh from Hoa Binh province.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su congratulated the anglers on their achievements, expressing his hope that the tournament will be organised in the coming years to popularise sport fishing and tourism of Hoa Binh province.

For stick pushing, they participated in 9 weight categories and won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Notably, the two young athletes who were both born in 2006 are the children of Van Son commune (Lac Son) and have contributed a lot to the province's competition achievements.
