HBO – The Tax Department of Hoa Binh province held a conference on January 4 to review tax activities in 2017 and put forward tasks for 2018, in the presence of Bui Van Khanh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee.

According to a report delivered at the event, the province’s State budget collection from tax and fees reached 3.06 trillion VND (135 million USD) in 2017, equivalent to 117 percent of estimates assigned by the Government and 108 percent of estimates assigned by the provincial People’s Council, and up 2.3 percent against the previous year. Of the total, collection from tax and fees hit over 2.7 trillion VND and collection from land use was 350 billion VND. Nine out of 15 receipts completed yearly estimates, while 12 out of 14 units fulfilled collection estimates.

 

At the conference, participants focused discussions on reasons affecting the State budget collection in 2017. Although production and business showed a signal of recovery, difficulties remained in capital, goods consumption and inventory settlement.

 Last year, the sector collected 152 billion VND worth of tax debt, equal to 49 percent of the total counted at the end of 2016.The sector well implemented investment encouragement policies to facilitate enterprises such as exemption and reduction of several taxes as regulated, and timely settlement of documents asking for tax refund.

 On this occasion, the Minister of Finance presented "For Vietnam’s financial cause” insignias to 23 officials of the provincial Tax Department. Three people were honoured with the title of the role model of the financial sector’s emulation movement, while 13 collectives and 16 individuals were awarded with the provincial Tax Department’s certificates of merit for their outstanding performance in 2015 and 2016.

 The Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee also granted certificates of merit to three individuals who had outstanding achievements in the emulation movement in 2016.

 Addressing the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh Province People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh spoke highly of the local tax sector’s efforts in 2017 to fulfil the estimates assigned by the Government and the provincial People’s Council.

 To achieve the State budget collection of 3.315 trillion VND in 2018, he asked departments and localities to create a more transparent investment environment with more policies supporting newly-established enterprises and strongly developing ones.

 The tax sector should focus on regular receipts and take drastic measures to collect tax debts to achieve 5 trillion VND worth of State budget collection by 2020 as set by the resolution of the provincial Party Committee’s 16th Congress./.
