(HBO) – On the foundation of the Party’s policies on international integration, over the years, the Hoa Binh Steering Committee for International Economic Integration has increased communication activities to popularise laws and legal documents in the fields.

Orange products made by Ha Phong Cooperative in Cao Phong district have been popular among consumers in and outside the province, heading to foreign markets.

At the same time, the steering committee had instructed member departments and agencies to effectively implement Plan No. 76 issued on June 15, 2017 by the provincial People’s Committee on international economic integration in the 2017-2020 period, and Plan No. 89 issued by the provincial People’s Committee on June 30, 2017 on the implementation of a project to enhance the competitiveness of export products of the province in the 2016-2020 period with a vision to 2030, thus creating positive changes.

 

The province has intensified the promotion of its image not only inside the country but also in the world, and paid great attention to investment promotion activities. Right from early this year, the provincial People’s Committee issued a decision on a plan to continue implementing major tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and competitiveness of Hoa Binh in 2019 with the vision to 2021.

 

In the first six months of this year, the province attracted 35 investment projects, including 32 by domestic investors worth over 3 trillion VND and three foreign-invested one with combined capital of about 19 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2018, the number of projects was equal to 121 percent.

 

The areas of trade-service, industry-handicraft, and other economic sectors have also seen expansion, promoting economic transformation towards more positive orientations.

 

Particularly, import-export activities recorded impressive performance. In the first six months of this year, the province earned 319.9 million USD from export, up 30.98 percent year on year, fulfilling nearly 50 percent of the yearly target. The import revenue is estimated at 306.8 million USD, a rise of 35.42 percent year on year and completing 50.3 percent of the target for the year. Major markets of the province were the US, EU, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China and India.

 

Alongside, the province has implemented the master plan on development of the wholesale and retail networks of Hoa Binh towards 2020. The province has attracted many large trade infrastructure projects such as Cao Phong farm produce market and the provincial exhibition and convention centre.

 

The province has piloted a model of food safety in three markets, while issuing regulations to transform the market management model to enhance the efficiency of the use of State and enterprises’ assets in the area of trade.

 

In order to enhance international cooperation and expand markets for local goods, the provincial People’s Committee has directed sectors and localities to increase the popularization of bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed, with focus on current issues related to the agreements, thus helping local exporters to enhance competitiveness and broaden markets.

 

At the same time, the province has strengthen collaboration and experience sharing in the field of management of investment activities with other provinces and cities.

 

Hoa Binh has actively implemented economic diplomacy through trade, investment and tourism promotion activities and calling for ODA and FDI projects.

 

It has increased external activities, such as sending delegations to the Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Australia to learn models in education, hi-tech agriculture and food processing. The province also arranged for officials to participate in learning programmes on innovation, technology reform, digital economy in the US, and attend an investment promotion conference in Australia.

 

The strengthening of international economic integration has made significant contributions to promoting and transforming the province’s economic structure, and enhancing the position, image of Hoa Binh among domestic and foreign friends./.
