(HBO) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh recently visited and presented Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts to disaster-hit, policy beneficiary, and low-income households in the mountainous district of Da Bac.
He was accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Labour,
Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee,
and Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Cuu.
The delegation visited and presented gifts to residents in Lau Bai
hamlet of Vay Nua commune, Da Bac district. Deputy PM Binh expressed sympathy to
local people who suffered from heavy losses in the floods in October 2017.
He appreciated local authorities’ efforts in surmounting disaster consequences
as well as in evacuation and resettlement of flood victims.

To prepare for the upcoming Tet, the Deputy PM asked all-level
authorities and benefactors to continue providing support so that disaster-hit people
will soon stabilise their lives and develop economic activities. He expressed
his hope that with efforts of local authorities, people in the resettlement
area will enjoy a warm and merry Tet. Meanwhile, people of different ethnic
groups in Da Bac district will continue solidarity and mutual assistance so as to
improve their lives.
Deputy PM Binh also told ministries, central agencies, and the
administrations of Hoa Binh province and Da Bac district to pay more attention
to policies targeting ethnic minority groups, including employment for ethnics
in underprivileged areas.

To assist disaster-hit families, the Deputy PM presented 35 gift
packages, each worth 3 million VND, to households in the resettlement area and
policy beneficiary families in Vay Nua commune. The Vietnam Red Cross Society
Central Committee granted gifts to 100 families with disadvantages. Many other
Tet gifts were also given to residents in the resettlement area of Lau Bai
hamlet.
Earlier, Deputy PM Binh and officials of Hoa Binh province visited
the family of Nguyen Van Hau, former Vice Secretary of the provincial Party
Committee and former Chairman of the provincial Administrative Committee (now
provincial People’s Committee)./.
