The 14th Conference of the 8th Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Presidium officially opened in the central province of Nghe An on July 5.

The conference reviewed the Committee’s performance in the first six months of this year and highlighted the tasks for the remaining six months, as well as the draft political report at the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 2019-2024 tenure and the draft revised Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The VFF has focused on improving its methods of operation and strengthening its organisational structure, as well as promoting communication work and its central role in consolidating and upholding the strength of national solidarity, while encouraging the public to take an active part in socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai, asked the VFF branches at all levels to be innovative and improve their performance in order to effectively carry out the VFF’s action plans.

He also urged the VFF to pay greater attention to improving the front’s supervision and social criticism work, while accelerating its activities aimed at consolidating national solidarity and unity, and focusing on ethnic and religious affairs and maintaining political security, social order, and safety.
