(HBO) – As many as 100 outstanding youngsters and students of Vietnam and Laos arrived in Hoa Binh province on November 2 to continue their meaningful activities as part of their journey of "Following footprints of Vietnamese, Lao leaders”. The programme drew representatives of youth unions of the two countries and representatives of Hoa Binh provincial Youth Union.

The "Following footprints of Vietnamese, Lao leaders" programme 2017 was an important political event of the two countries' youths, practically marking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations and 40 years of the bilateral Treaty of Friendship and Amity. The programme aimed to educate youngsters of both countries, especially students, on the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the tradition of special fighting alliance and mutual support between the two Parties, States and peoples in the past struggle for independence and in the current cause of national construction and development.


The delegation takes pictures at the national historical site that used to host the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party’s second Congress (inside the provincial Military Headquarters).


During the programme, youngsters and students from two countries visited a number of historic sites where leaders of the two countries, including President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong lived, studied and worked. They also explored historical sites associated with feats of arms of troops and people of the two countries in the struggle for national independence. The activities took place in Vietnam’s provinces and cities of Nghe An, Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La of two Lao provinces of Houaphan and Xiangkhouang.

In Hoa Binh, 100 elite youths and students from the two countries visited the National Historical Relic on the precinct of the provincial Military Headquarters, in which the second Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party was held under the chair of Lao late President Kaysone Phomvihane. They offered incense and laid flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh’s Monument at Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant.

 The delegates also visited Tay Tien Monument- a historical relic associated with the feat of the Tay Tien (westward) troops that were formed in 1947 with the task of coordinating with the Lao armed forces to protect the borders of the two countries. The same day, an art exchange and a seminar was organised for youngster of the two countries./.
