The Association of History of Hoa Binh province held its third congress, for the 2023 - 2028 tenure, on November 15 with the participation of 110 delegates representing more than 1,000 members across the province.

During the 2017 - 2022 tenure, the association exerted efforts to attract new members and collaborators who are dedicated and have high specialised capacity to contribute to the development of historical science in Hoa Binh and Vietnam at large. It chaired and participated in the compilation and publication of many important works on historical science of the province. It gave advice and feedback, and assessed the structures and projects related to the history and culture of ethnic groups in Hoa Binh.

Its members actively researched, taught, collected materials of history, and popularised the hometown’s history and traditions among the community, thereby substantially helping educate the young, especially high school students in the province, on history and revolutionary traditions.

In particular, the association coordinated with the provincial Party Committee’s information and education board and the Vietnam Association of Historical Science to propose the provincial Party Committee issue Project No 14-DA/TU on the collection, research, and compilation of a set of books on the history of Hoa Binh province from the initial period to 2020. It also worked with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations to conduct a study on the historical and cultural values of the materials and remembrances of Tay Tien (Marching Westwards) Regiment 52 to serve the education of traditions and develop tourism in Hoa Binh.

For the 2023 - 2028 tenure, the association is set to step up researching history and compiling publications, collect and amend documents on the local history, popularise outstanding historical figures and events, and boost coordination in researching and compiling documents on the Hoa Binh Civilisation. It will also carry out history education on digital platforms, spread knowledge about historical science in the public, and cooperate with domestic and foreign political, economic and social organisations as well as individuals in historical science.

Addressing the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Historical Science, and historian Duong Trung Quoc, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the national association, praised the Hoa Binh association’s achievements during the last tenure. They also called on local Party committees and administrations to create favourable material and spiritual conditions for the association to continue fulfilling its tasks in the time ahead.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su also delivered remarks to give directions at the congress.

The congress elected a 29-member executive committee and a nine-member standing board for the association in the third tenure. Le Van Bang was re-elected Chairman of the Hoa Binh Association of History.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of Historical Science presented the insignia "For the cause of historical studies of Vietnam” to 16 individuals, and certificates of merit to two collectives and four individuals with outstanding performance in history-related collection, compilation, and education during 2017 - 2022.
