Hoa Binh province’s trade unions at all levels have paid due attention to taking care of local workers and ensuring their legitimate rights and benefits.

As of June 2023, Hoa Binh had 66,184 labourers, 64,241 of whom were members of 1,068 trade unions across the province.

Every year, the local trade unions join hands with leaders of state agencies and organisations and heads of local firms to organise medical check-ups, and ensure allowance, annual leave, holiday entitlement for workers in line with the Labour Code.

The province’s Federation of Labour has issued an array of plans, and directed trade unions at all levels to carry out various welfare programmes to improve workers’ material and spiritual lives.

Besides, the trade unions at all levels have accompanied and supported local workers overcome challenges brought by natural disasters, floods and diseases. Over the past five years, they have mobilised more than 3.9 billion VND (160,800 USD) from agencies, organisations and units to help the labourers.

The trade unions have engaged in the building of regulations and principles at organisations and enterprises to better take care of and protect the legitimate rights and benefits for labourers through joining hands with the employers to organise labourers’ conferences. The quality of the conferences have improved for years, with focus sharpened on building dialogue regulation and organisation of labourers’ conference regulation, choosing representatives of workers joining in periodic dialogues at the working place, among others.

With a view to improving the quality of shift work meals, the trade unions at enterprises encouraged their workers to sign the collective labour agreements, and negotiated with the employers of 15 out of 15 local enterprises to adjust the value of the meals to at least 15,000 VND.

Representatives of the labourers at organisations, units and enterprises have effectively carried out dialogues and collective bargaining, while working to improve the quality and efficiency of consultancy on trade union laws, and enhancing examination, inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies for the workers, making contributions to fine-tuning the working conditions, reducing labour accidents and occupational diseases for the workers.

The trade unions at all levels have organised 1,638 campaigns to popularise labour policies among local workers, drawing the participation of 66,595 people. Meanwhile, lifelong learning activities have been promoted among the labourers. As many as 99,064 public servants, public employees and workers have received training to improve their skills.

The provincial Federation of Labour has created favourable conditions for the trade unions to understanding and carry out labour policies in line with current legal regulations, helping reduce the number of violation cases, disputes and lawsuits in local agencies and enterprises.

As part of efforts to better protect the legitimate rights and benefits of labourers, the trade unions at all levels have worked to renew their operation, and contribute to concretise the resolutions adopted at the Vietnam Federation of Labour Congress.
