To reactivate tourism activities after the
coronavirus outbreak, since the year’s beginning, the Department of Culture,
Sports and Tourism has proposed the provincial People’s Committee issue and
implement a plan for carrying out the 2020 cooperation programme on tourism
development among eight northwestern provinces.
It has also suggested the province’s tourism steering
board assign this year’s tourism development targets to district-level
localities; coordinated with the localities to direct local relevant agencies
and tourism service providers to keep improving service quality and ensuring
safety for tourists; and organised meetings to discuss measures in response to
difficulties facing the tourism sector in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of
Culture, Sports and Tourism Bui Van Truong said in the time ahead, his agency
will continue to effectively implement resolutions, action programmes and plans
on tourism development; improve State agencies’ management of tourism
activities; disseminate relevant laws; organise trips for related stakeholders
to learn experience in tourism management, promotion and development; provide
training in rural tourism services; develop OCOP (One Commune, One Product)
products of the tourism sector; and hold conferences to seek ways to tackle
difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the short term, the department will propose
the provincial People’s Committee launch a programme encouraging Vietnamese
people to travel to domestic destinations. It will also spread information
about the reopening and safety of local places of interest, devise safety
guidance for tourism activities, and organise activities to promote the
attractiveness of tourism stimulus packages. The authority will also encourage
local travel firms to ensure a safe, friendly and high-quality tourism
environment so as to help shore up the tourism industry as soon as possible,
the official noted./.
