(HBO) - Defining tourism as a spearhead economic sector, Hoa Binh province has carried out many measures to develop the sector over the past years, with attention paid to building and upgrading infrastructure.

Residents in Sung hamlet, Da Bac district’s Cao Son commune, participate in training course in community-based tourism.

At present, the province has 72 valid investment projects worth over 20 trillion VND in tourism, accounting for 12.2 percent of total projects in the locality. It has 434 licensed accommodation facilities with more than 4,000 rooms, one provincial-level tourist site and nine sites at the local level. The sector has generated jobs for over 14,000 labourers, of whom over 4,000 are working directly in this sector.

The provincial People’s Committee has invested in building or upgrading road transport infrastructure as well as coach stations and parking lots. In addition, Hoa Binh has paid more attention to promoting investment in tourism development, facilitating enterprises’ and locals’ engagement in this aspect, and encouraging them to invest in developing cultural, spiritual and sport tourism and eco-tourism.

Priority has been given to several major groups such as Sun Group, Tan Hoang Minh and FLC which are studying the implementation of large-scale and high-quality projects in the Hoa Binh Lake tourism site and Kim Boi and Lac Son district.

The province has provided support for travel companies in protecting intellectual property rights, strictly dealt with frauds and unfair competitions in tourism business activities, and worked to ensure safety for visitors.

It has also facilitated the participation of organisations and individuals in tourism activities by providing them with financial assistance and knowledge about community-based tourism.

Hoa Binh has encouraged several enterprises to invest in developing big shopping and services centres in Hoa Binh city and other localities, and coordinate with local People’s Committees in organizing trade fairs and night markets to introduce visitors to local agricultural products and specialties./.
