(HBO) – As it is currently the peak time of spring festivals, tourists travelling to the Hoa Binh reservoir have been on the rise, posing risks for traffic safety.

Per order of the provincial People’s Committee, relevant sectors, units and localities are rolling measures to guarantee traffic safety in the reservoir area.


Flows of vehicles and tourists to Hoa Binh reservoir increase in early days of the new lunar year.

Statistics showed that274 water vehicles are operating in the area, including 236 for passenger transport and the remainders for carrying both people and cargo.

Due attention has been paid to the planning and management of wharves and passenger transport vehicles. However, risk factors to traffic safety remain.

Chief of staff of the Hoa Binh Traffic Safety Board Le Xuan Cu said the board is working with others to carry out measures in maintaining traffic safety, namely enhancing dissemination of traffic regulations and announcing a hotline receiving reports on issues related to traffic safety at wharves, among others.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Quach Tat Liem recently ordered all departments, sectors, and People’s Committees of districts and city to implement duties and solutions to traffic safety during this year’s festivals.

Relevant forces are to impose fines on vehicles that violate regulations, including those lack of registration and carrying excess weight and passengers.

A hotline is set up and publicised on the media, wharves and vehicles to timely receive feedback. Inspections are bolstered to keep watch on violations of passenger and freight transport vehicles in Da river and Hoa Binh reservoir.

The People’s Committees of districts and Hoa Binh city have called on owners of vehicles operating in the area to comply with regulations and engage in campaigns ensuring waterway traffic safety./.
