(HBO) – Determining culture is a precious and important resource, Cao Phong district in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh has carried out solutions to preserve cultural values to boost sustainable tourism development.

Residents in Mo hamlet, Binh Thanh commune, Cao Phong district, preserves cultural values of Muong ethnic group to boost community tourism.

Mo hamlet in Binh Thanh commune is a famous community-based tourism site of the district. The locality has nearly 100 traditional stilt houses. Local people have kept intact their unique cultural values. Culture is the core value for the hamlet to develop tourism.

Bui Anh Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the Cao Phong District People’s Committee, said that in the past years, the district has focused on implementing solutions to exploit, preserve and promote core cultural values of local ethnic group in an attempt to turn tourism into an spearhead economic sector.

The committee has devised a tourism development plan for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030 to optimise advantages and potential of the local tourism, building the district into an attractive destination with typical, rich and diverse tourism products.

It is expected that during 2021-2025, the district will attract over 3.52 trillion VND (more than 149 million USD) in tourism development investment with an average growth of 15% a year and the locality will welcome more than 500,000 tourist arrivals by 2025, earning 400 billion VND in tourism revenue and helping to create jobs for over 2,000 workers.

Ha Van Di, Secretary of the Cao Phong District Party Committee, said that the district has implemented synchronous solutions, including effective mechanisms and policies to encourage investment in exploiting historical - cultural relic sites and typical cultural heritage to develop them into attractive tourism products with Cao Phong cultural characteristics in order to lure more tourists to the locality.

Currently, a number of projects funded by the state budget are being implemented in the district with total investment of over 400 billion VND, including a number of key works in the field of culture and tourism./.
