(HBO) – With advantages in geography, natural landscapes and convenient transportation, Lac Thuy district in the northern province of Hoa Binh has huge potential to develop tourism, particularly ecotourism, scenic and festival tourism.

Tourists visit and learn about the first money printing factory of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Government in Phu Nghia commune, Lac Thuy district.

The Huong Binh cable car project in Phu Nghia commune was officially kicked off, connecting the iconic scenic Huong Son pagoda (Perfume Pagoda) – a special national relic site in Hanoi's My Duc district to the national relic site of Tien pagoda in Phu Nghia commune.

The project is expected to become a new tourism product, creating a breakthrough in the development of the industry, contributing to saving travel time between the two scenic spots while improving the quality of tourism services, transforming socio-economic growth model in the locality in particular and in the region in general.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Van, Vice Chairman of Lac Thuy district People's Committee, there are 36 accommodation establishments in the area, including Lang Soi resort with four tourist villas including 32 rooms and 12 community guesthouses.

In addition, the district has six national-level and 11 provincial-level relics, and 64 relic sites that need to be protected.

So far, many projects have been carried out in the district, including a TH Group's project to build a sports, culture, entertainment, and high-class resort complex combining aquaculture with a registered capital of 148 billion VND (6.3 million USD), Huong Binh cable car project, Lac Thuy cultural tourism and resort of Pacific - Hoa Binh One Member Limited Liability Company with a registered capital of over 4,000 billion VND, another on developing tourism infrastructure to support comprehensive growth of the Greater Mekong sub-region (Phase 2), and sub-project of Hoa Binh province with a total investment of 234.4 billion VND.

Some projects are completing investment procedures, such as one on ecological housing, high-class resort and entertainment complex in Dong Tam commune of Sun Group joint Stock Company, the Hang Trinh Nu Chi Ne ecological urban area one in Chi Ne town, and a high-tech agricultural experience project in Khoan Du commune, among others.

In addition to creating favourable conditions for businesses investing in the district’s tourism sector, the locality has developed local tourism products with a focus on sightseeing tourism, cultural-spiritual tourism to attract more holiday-makers.

In 2022, the district welcomed 540,000 visitors, earning a total of about 102 billion VND.
Traditional festivals have been well maintained and organised, creating typical tourism products, contributing to the preservation cultural traditions associated with the development of festival tourism products.

According to the locality’s development plan for the period of 2021 - 2025, the district will welcome about 1.5 million visitors and 2 million during 2026-2030./.
