(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Hoa Binh province has held a working session on the inspection of natural disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue activities in Hoa Binh city. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee presided over the event.

 The city People’s Committee said the city has four dyke systems and 17 key hydropower reservoirs and irrigation works as well as equable lakes.

 In order to stay active in preventing and responding to natural disasters in 2018, the city People’s Committee has designed key plans and tasks in the work for the year. The plans’ major objectives to timely prevent and cope with the disasters’ consequences in a prompt and effective manner, while considering the prevention as main task.

 The work will be implementing in the principle of showing strong performance at site in four aspects: effective direction, on-the-spot forces, on-site vehicles, and on-site logistics.

 The city has asked 15 communes, wards and authorised agencies in the city to launch the plan for 2018 to suit their real conditions, while reviewing and ensuring the full reserve of equipment, vehicles, food, foodstuff, medicine for at least seven days for all locals in the locality.

 At the same time, localities across the city have been requested to efficiently conduct resettlement to stabilise the life of households affected by landslides due to the low pressure in October 2017. They have been asked to regularly examine, review and complete the plans for natural disaster prevention and control as well as search and rescue activities, and strictly implement the on-duty watching in accordance with regulations.

 At the working session, the provincial People’s Committee requested the city People’s Committee to direct relevant agencies to speed up the expansion of drainage tunnel No. 3 of the Quynh Lam dyke to deal with flood in Hoa Binh city.

 The city was asked to give financial support to the construction of embankments for preventing erosion on transportation routes, and irrigation canals.

 Earlier, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Van Dung and other senior officials of Hoa Binh city made field trips to Van Chai commune near Hoa Binh bridge, the banks of Dung stream and Tri stream in Tan Thinh ward, and a Van Chai docking area for boat in Thinh Lang ward./.
