(HBO) – The Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee has held a meeting to review the emulation movement and rewards in 2018 and launch the patriotic emulation movement for this year.

The event was attended by Bui Van Tinh – member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Tran Thi Ha – Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and head of the Central Committee for Emulation and Rewards; Tran Dang Ninh – Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council and head of Hoa Binh’s National Assembly deputy delegation; and Nguyen Van Quang – Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

In 2018, the local patriotic emulation movement was expanded and became more substantive, attracting the participation of the whole political system, businesses and people, thereby greatly helping to successfully fulfill socio-economic development tasks.

Hoa Binh recorded a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 8.36 percent, ranking second among provinces in the northwestern region, fourth in the northern midland and mountainous region, and 19th nationwide. Per capita income has reached 50.7 million VND (2,187 USD) while the household poverty rate has been brought down to 14.73 percent. Another 13 communes in the province has met all 19 new-style rural area criteria, raising the number of such communes to 63 in Hoa Binh. Meanwhile, almost 3.38 trillion VND was collected for the State budget.

In 2018, many outstanding collectives and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement were granted with noble rewards. The State President posthumously bestowed the "Heroic Vietnamese Mother” title upon one woman and presented the third-class Independence Order to two families whose only sons are martyrs, the second-class Anti-US Resistance Order to two people, the first-class Labour Order to one person, the second-class Labour Order to one collective, and the third-class Labour Order to eight collectives and 10 individuals.

The Prime Minister posthumously granted the revolutionary soldier insignia to 30 people while presenting the emulation flags to 12 collectives and merit certificates to nine collectives, 37 individuals and nine families with successful production and business activities in Hoa Binh. 

Meanwhile, the provincial People’s Committee granted 1,034 collectives and 950 individuals with different emulation titles and rewards.

At the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Quang launched the 2019 patriotic emulation movement, themed "the Party organisation, administration, armed forces, business community and people of all ethnic groups of Hoa Binh province look towards solidary, discipline, integrity, action, creativity, breakthrough, efficiency”, to successfully carry out socio-economic development tasks in 2019./.
