Leaders of Hoa Binh and project advisory unit representatives perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the Huong Binh Valley project.

The inauguration ceremony drew a host of prominent figures, including Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Bui Van Tinh, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Tran Dang Ninh, former Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and former Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board; and leaders of provincial departments and sectors as well as Lac Thuy district, and My Duc district of Hanoi. Also present were historian Duong Trung Quoc, General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Historians; Lieutenant General Pham Tuan, former Director of the General Department of Industry under the Ministry of National Defence; and Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung, President of the Vietnam Martyrs' Family Support Association.

The Huong Binh cable car line project got in-principle approval from the Prime Minister to Thai Binh Tourism Co., Ltd., a member of Thai Binh Duong Group. The line spans nearly 3km, with a total investment of approximately 1.7 trillion VND (67.16 million USD), linking Phu Nghia commune in Lac Thuy district of Hoa Binh with Huong Son commune in My Duc district of Hanoi. It aims to connect several key religious sites, including Huong Pagoda (Hanoi), Tien Pagoda (Hoa Binh), and Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam).

Construction on the project commenced in May 2023. It has been completed on schedule, and is expected to officially open on February 1, 2025, or the 4th day of the Lunar New Year. With a daily capacity of carrying 10,000 passengers, the journey between the two stations will take approximately 10 minutes. Once operational, the line will significantly reduce travel time and make it easier for both locals and pilgrims to travel between these religious sites. It will also help ease traffic congestion and foster greater cultural, commercial, and tourism connections between Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Ha Nam, and the surrounding areas.

The Huong Binh Valley project in Phu Nghia commune, Lac Thuy district, has also received in-principle approval from the provincial People’s Committee. The tourism and resort project will cover more than 110 hectares, with a registered capital of over 5 trillion VND. The project is set to be completed by 2029. Upon completion, it will create a high-end resort with full infrastructure, contributing to the cultural and socio-economic development of the region, boosting state revenue, and creating more jobs for the local workforce.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nguyen Van Toan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, highlighted that both are major projects of Hoa Binh that will drive local tourism development and socio-economic growth. After intensive preparation, the cable car line is now fully operational, meeting the original schedule, he noted.

To create a modern and environmentally friendly tourism complex, Toan directed relevant departments, Lac Thuy authorities, Phu Nghia commune, and local residents to support the investor by facilitating the legal procedures and construction process according to the set timeline. In the short term, efforts should focus on completing land clearance to ensure the entire project area is handed over to the investor in the first quarter of 2025. The investor, consultants, and contractors need to gather resources, machinery, and equipment to accelerate construction while ensuring top-quality standards and compliance with regulations on planning, land use, construction, occupational safety, environmental protection, fire prevention, and other relevant laws, he asked.

Responding to the movement to upgrade and replace temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, at the ceremony, Thai Binh Duong Group and Thai Binh Tourism Co., Ltd. donated 500 million VND to each of the two communes hosting the project - Huong Son (Hanoi) and Phu Nghia (Hoa Binh) - to support poor and near-poor households, revolutionary contributors, and others in need of housing. The donations aimed to provide sturdy and safe homes for these families, enabling them to improve their living conditions and sustainably escape poverty.
