(HBO) – Tan Lac agricultural sector is still scattered, and produced traditionally. Hence, the linkage in production is always encouraged to develop in the closed loop production chain model.

The area of growing chayote of Quyet Chien commune (in Tan Lac district) has met VietGap standards and been welcomed by consumers.

From 2017 up to now, Tan Lac district has implemented two coordinating projects to consume Tan Lac red grapefruits and produce safe vegetables. After approving these projects, the District People’s Committee assigned the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development to be a representative of investors which coordinated with the Commune People’s Committees in the project area and other relevant agencies in order to develop and implement these projects. The agencies consisted of Cuong Thinh Construction and Service Co., Ltd, Dong Lai Clean Farm Products Cooperative and Tan Lac Son Cooperative. Accordingly, Tan Lac Son Cooperative would provide the supply of seeds as well as consume the safe vegetable products of the cooperative group producing safe vegetable in Sung hamlet, Thanh Hoi commune. Dong Lai Clean Farm Products Cooperative (an agency supported to apply the technical process in accordance with VietGap standards) has signed a contract for consumption of red grapefruit products with Cuong Thinh Construction and Service Co., Ltd.

For the coordinating project on consumption of red grapefruits, it had a scale of 300 hectares in three communes: Dong Lai, Thanh Hoi and Tu Ne. There were more than 50 households in two hamlets of Tan Lai and Dong Tien participating in applying VietGap process with the total area of over 20 hectares. The project supported 100 percentages of the cost of making direction boards, making ways to the production area and the cost of assessing in accordance with VietGap standards for over 20 hectares of red grapefruits. Also, it supported 40 percentages of the expenditure of printing stamps to identify red grapefruit products, printing product package and organizing customer workshop at manufacture factory. In 2017, Dong Lai Clean Farm Products Cooperative received the Certificate of VietGap Standard with the certified area of over 20 hectares.

Through the assessment, the project has formed the area of producing red grapefruit which met VietGap standards and the area of producing safe vegetables. Some production facilities and consumers have created linkages, the products were consumed steadily, and the position of clean products in agricultural production could be raised. The red grapefruit of project has been sold out with higher price and the income reached 750 million VND per hectare, which was higher by from 50 to 100 million VND than the income when not yet joining the project. For the safe vegetable products, due to limited variety of vegetables, the consumption faced many challenges, for example, the average income was under 200 million VND per hectare and the economic efficiency was not higher after participating in the project.
