(HBO) – With more than 10 years of experience in farming, Tran Van Minh from Diem Tong hamlet, Lien Son commune (Luong Son district) is owning a property that any farmer dreams of.

Mr. Tran Van Minh is breeding a herd of cattle in his farm

It was between 2005 and 2006 when Minh’s family used all assets and loans from the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) to develop his farm. Minh mainly grew acacia and eucalyptus on 50 hectares. He harvested the first crop of acacia and eucalyptus in 2012 and planned to harvest the second crop in the next two years.

Making use of the grass on the forest, Minh invested in raising a large number of cattle and building a strong breeding facility to protect buffalos and cows from cold weather. Since 2013, he has maintained raising 50-60 heads. Now he counts 36 cows and 18 buffalos.

He accumulated money from selling calves annually and borrowed more capital to expand production and business. Primarily, he selected affordable crops that are easy to grow and take care of, then provided more services. Afterwards, he bought land to grow lemongrass and galangal on 1.5 hectares and grew 200 grapefruits in his orchard, which brings economic efficiency. He also bought a truck, three excavators and bulldozers to serve his family work and helps neighbours with production.

His farm brings him annual revenue of over 1 billion VND, excluding the production cost. With a yearly profit of over 300 million VND, Minh plans to develop production in the near future by raising about 10,000 chickens.

With the outstanding achievements, Minh has won the title of excellent farmer-entrepreneur for five consecutive years. In 2017, the provincial farmer association proposed the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmer’s Union recognise Minh as an excellent farmer./.
