(HBO) - The Ngan clan (Mai Chau district) consists of 36 Thai ethnic minority households living in Na Meo hamlet (Na Meo commune), Na Cut hamlet (Na Phon commune). Being a clan of ethnic minorities, but the Ngan clan has 13 Party members, 13 descendants with the qualification from vocational college level; 4 people are studying at the intermediate level and 6 people have the level of primary and middle level political theory.

In the clan, there are 17 pensioners, officers from the village level and up, and no offenders, there are no children dropping out of school. For the local with many difficulties as Mai Chau, the efforts of the Ngan clan has been achieved in the past years is very remarkable.

Talking with us, Mr. Ngan Van Thu, Head of the Ngan Clan said: Previous Ngan Clan mainly lived in Mo village (Chieng Chau commune), then moved to live in Na Meo, Na Phon. Beginning in 2000, the Ngan clan held its first meeting, built the clan’s operation regulations, including important issues related to the study encouragement. Specifically, families in the clan have the responsibility to create favorable conditions for their offspring to go to school for improving their education and professional skills. The clan fund is used to commend and reward the descendants with good academic achievements.

In addition, the clan is also interested in building a civilized lifestyle, the manner of speaking and living followed by customs, not cursing or swearing, violating social evils,etc.

Some typical households in the clan are such as Mr.Ngan Van Thu (Na Meo commune), Mr.Ngan Van Thuong (Na Phon commune), Mr.Ngann Van Thieu (Na Cut hamlet, Na Phon commune), etc. These are the families with offspring who have tried their best to graduated from colleges and universities and are currently working at commune and district agencies. These are good examples to be usually recalled, andthey have strong contagious influence in the clan.

The effective implementation of the local learning fondness has created a condition for people in their clan to build a culture of living style, contributing to maintaining the social order security. At present, more than 90% of households in the clan have won the title of cultural family, no law violators and social evils, no third child and no children dropping out of school.

Talking about the study encouragement of Ngan Clan, Mr. Ha Van Ngu, Chairman of the Study Encouragement Association of Na Meo commune said: In recent years, the Ngan clan has pioneered in the construction of clans of learning fondness in the locality. In a commune with many difficulties such as Na Meo, the construction of learning clan as the Ngan clan is very valuable. In particular, the effectiveness and success of the study encouragement in the Ngan clan has a strong spread to other clans in Na Meo commune, contributing to the study encouragement and talent promotion in the locality.
