Each course last 10 days under the guidance of instructors and supervisors.
Children practised basic swimming skills, including warm-up, how to take breath
and pedal, swim breaststroke, backstroke, and crawl. At the same time, the
organising board also trained them in the most basic skills in drowning
prevention so that they could protect themselves in necessary cases.
It was a practical activity for rural children during summer holiday, providing
them with injury prevention skills towards minimising the rate of child death
and disability from drowning. It also stepped up the swimming teaching and
learning movement among local children, towards achieving the goal of "Safe and
helpful summer”./.
