(HBO) – From October 24-26, the Red Cross Society of Lac Son district and a number of businesses, donors and locals in Thuong Coc held an event to raise funds, make, transport and hand over 4,000 "chung” cake (square glutinous rice cake) to Le Thuy district of Quang Binh province.

The central province was hard hit by torrential rains and flooding as a result of the recent storm, the seventh hitting in the East Sea so far this year.

Locals in Dong Tam village, Thuong Coc commune of Lac Son district make chung cake for flood-hit people in the central region.

As part of efforts to give practical and timely support to flood-hit people in the central region to overcome consequences of the disaster and in response to the call of individuals and organisations in Thuong Coc commune, locals in the commune donated materials for the making of more than 4,000 chung cakes, along with one tonne of rice, clothes, instant noodles, confectionary products and more than 20 million VND in cash to people in Le Thuy district. The aid was transported in a chiller lorry to Le Thuy with the support of local firms.

This was a meaningful and humanitarian activity of organisations, donors and locals in the commune with a hope of easing difficulties facing locals in the central region, helping them to soon overcome the hard time due to flooding./.
