(HBO) – Making efforts to build model new-style rural residential areas from 2018 to 2020, Luong Son district now has nine areas of this kind. The movement of building model new-style rural residential areas has helped turn countryside areas into well-off and developed ones. It is also the core factor in helping new-style rural communes and districts meet advanced new-style countryside standards.

People in the model new-style rural residential area of Sau Thuong hamlet in Thanh Cao commune (Luong Son district) tend to flowers grown along a road.

Setting foot in the hamlets of Sau Thuong (Thanh Cao commune), Tan Hoa (Hoa Son commune), Dat Do (Lien Son commune), and Thanh Ha (Thanh Son commune), visitors can see the effect of the building of model new-style rural residential areas in well-built houses, spacious roads flanked by flowers, and gardens with fruit-laden trees.

Chairman of the Luong Son People’s Committee Nguyen Van Danh said basing on the situation, potential, and advantages of each locality, the district made plans and road maps for building model new-style rural residential areas. The entire local political system, from the district to grassroots levels, has associated this movement with emulation campaigns.

Each residential area has stepped up efforts to boost production, improve income, sustainably alleviate poverty, restructure agriculture towards higher added value, sustainably develop model new-style rural residential areas, and facilitate cooperative economy and connectivity in agricultural production and sale, he noted.

In more than two years, Luong Son has seen many residential areas with annual per capita income of over 50 million VND (2,160 USD), as well as role-model gardens generating annual revenue of 300 – 500 million VND.

Thanks to funding from the building programme and private sources, essential infrastructure in rural areas such as roads, irrigation works, power lines, schools, healthcare stations, and cultural and sports facilities have been upgraded and modernised.

Nguyen Thi Thanh, a resident in Sau Thuong hamlet, said thanks to the building of new-style countryside and model new-style rural residential areas, annual per capita income has reached 90 million VND on average while 100 percent of locals have gained access to hygienic water. People have also paid more attention to adopting a civilised lifestyle, keeping their living places clean, and planting trees to beautify their areas.

To honour the outstanding collectives and individuals in the building of model new-style rural residential areas and role-model gardens, the district People’s Committee organised a contest with nine residential areas and 26 gardens winning prizes.

Luong Son also had six new-style rural residential areas and 10 mole-model gardens taking part in the provincial contest. Among them, one residential area won Prize B and four others consolation prizes, while one garden Prize C and seven gardens consolation prizes./.
