Kim Boi district has long been famous for its hot mineral water with the best quality in the world. There are many festivals held in the district such as le mung com moi (new rice celebration), a cultural practice of local ethnic minority people to celebrate bumper crops that attract tourists to Kim Boi.

However, Kim Boi has not yet fully exploited its potential due to unfavourable transportation system.

To meet the demand for future development of the district and the province, the provincial authority has approved a project that connects Hoa Binh with Hanoi and Son La Expressway with a total length of about 39 km.

The project is one of the breakthrough solutions which aimed at accelerating the construction of projects with far-reaching effects to promote investment, attract labourers and increase income for people as well as local budget, especially for the two poorest districts but with great potential for tourism developments in the province namely Kim Boi and Da Bac.

Currently, the Management Board is preparing a feasibility study report and an environmental impact assessment report of the project. The topographic and traffic surveys for the project have been completed.

The road project that links Hoa Binh city with Kim Boi district along with Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh expressway expansion project are the two key projects of the province in 2020 – 2025 period. They will meet the traffic demand between the northwest region, Hoa Binh province with Hanoi and other localities in the region.

During a recent inspection in Kim Boi district, Quach Tat Liem, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked relevant departments and agencies to carry out the project on schedule in accordance with their tasks and their highest responsibility. They were requested to periodically report the project’s progress so that obstacles to be removed promptly as well as settle problems arising during its implementation.
