(HBO) – The Hoa Binh Steering Committee for Blood Donation Mobilisation on July 5 held a "Red Journey” programme to collect the fluid of life and honour outstanding donors this year. Attending the event were Huynh Thi Xuan Lam, Vice President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, and Nguyen Van Chuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee.

In the first six months of this year, the steering committee directed districts and cities to coordinate with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) to organise 10 donation campaigns, attracting nearly 7,000 participants and receiving 4,582 blood units or 51% of the annual plan.

Speaking at the event, Lam and Chuong praised and recognised the noble actions of officials, soldiers, and people who participated in voluntary blood donation during the past time, especially the 50 exemplary donors.

To sustainably develop the movement in the province, they proposed that the steering committee and its chapters proactively coordinate with relevant sectors and organisations to implement extensive communications and mobilisation plans that reach agencies, schools, businesses, law enforcement units, and all social strata in the locality. Stronger coordination with the provincial Department of Health and NIHBT to fully prepare necessary means and technical supplies serving the safe and timely collection and storage of blood were also recommended.

On this occasion, the steering committee presented certificates of merit to the 50 individuals with outstanding achievements in the 2023 voluntary blood donation movement, while the provincial Red Cross Society awarded certificates of merit to 11 organisations and seven individuals for their excellent efforts in mobilising resources at their localities.

At the event, 681 donors registered and 594 blood units were collected./.
