The Standing Board of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU)’s chapter in Hoa Binh recently organised a symposium on "promoting the role of female cadres in the political system, and solutions to develop sources of female cadres”. Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council; Bui Thi Minh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and head of the provincial Party Committee’s Organisation Board; and Dang Bich Ngoc, vice head of the provincial NA deputies' delegation, attended the event.

Over recent years, Party committees and authorities at all levels have always paid attention to the work of female cadre. Many specific documents were issued to implement policies related to the female cadre and gender equality work.

The number of female staff has gradually increased, and their quality improved.
The province has so far had 18,116 female cadres, civil servants, and public employees, accounting for 63.6% of the total.

Female leaders of the People's Committee at the district level account for 6.5%, while those at the commune, ward, and town levels make up 8.35%.

Participants discussed measures to promote the role of female cadres in the political system, and better the quality of female human resources to meet requirements in the 4th industrial revolution; and local experience in planning, training, and rotating officials, especially young female staff.

In her speech, Bui Thi Minh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s StandingBoard and head of the provincial Party Committee’s Organisation Board, said the event offers a venue for participants to review the female cadre work in the locality in recent times, and propose suitable solutions to increase the quality and rate of female managers and leaders, especially women participating in Party Committees for the 2020 - 2025 tenure, female NA deputies and members of People's Councils at all levels in the 2021 – 2026 tenure.

She suggested promoting communication activities to raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels about the role and position of women, the female cadre and gender equality work.

The official underlined the need to promote training and fostering of female officials following the plans, and continue to build and strengthen women's unions at all levels.
