(HBO) – Although about 30 percent of young people in Tuan Lo commune of Tan Lac district work in other localities, over the past years, the youth movement to build new-style rural areas and boost social-economic development in the commune has seen remarkable achievements, especially the vanguard movement for the community with many practical activities.

Members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and youngsters of Tuan Lo commune (Tan Lac district) level the ground for the construction of a vegetable garden in the commune’s kindergarten.

In 2017 alone, the communal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCM CYU) chapter moved nearly 100 cubic metres of land for a vegetable garden in Tuan Lo kindergarten and dredged nearly 2km of inter-field canals.

On the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the commune’s HCM CYU chapter coordinated with the HCM CYU chapter of military unit K802 to devote 39 working days to help social policy beneficiary households, worth about 4 million VND in value.

Promoting their vanguard role, since the beginning of this year, the communal Youth Union chapter directed its members to dredge canals inside rice fields in Doi, Thong and Ban villages. They also planted flowers along the roads under their management.

In May, the union held many activities, including the planting of trees in Co village, and launching a model of placing trash bins along roads in the village, aiming to complete new-style rural area’s criteria in the environment.

In order to enhance people’s awareness, the union coordinated with local agencies and organisations to organize educational activities in residential areas on the building of sanitary toilets.

Over the past years, youngsters of Tuan Lo have made great efforts in volunteer campaigns to support those facing difficulties.

In 2017, the communal HCM CYU chapter called for donation and delivered gifts to the needy on the occasion of national anniversaries and traditional New Year. In late 2017, the commune coordinated with the HCM CYU of Bac Ninh province to organize a programme to give free health check-up and medicine as well as gifts to students and poor households in the commune with total value of nearly 200 million VND.

The union also coordinated with the Charity and Volunteer Association of Tan Lac to present 40 gift packages worth 200,000 VND each to local poor students. Besides, the union also raised funds from members and local youngsters to buy bicycles for poor students.

In response to the blood donation day launched by the Vietnam Youth Federation, in 2017, 30 youngsters of Tuan Lo joined blood donation activities.
