Various activities are being held across the nation to pay tribute to wounded soldiers and beneficiary families on the occasion of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27).

On Tuesday afternoon, a delegation from the Ministry of Planning and Investment led by Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visited and presented gifts to war invalids at two nursing centres in Thanh Liem and Kim Bang districts in Ha Nam province.

The ministry presented 144 gifts worth VND500,000 each to wounded soldiers, relatives of people with meritorious services and Agent Orange victims being treated at the two centres.

The General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army also sent missions to several localities in the North and Central regions to organise activities in paying gratitude to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, policy beneficiaries and people who rendered meritorious services to the revolution.

They also provided financial assistance worth VND4 billion to build 30 houses of gratitude, communal cultural houses and schools in Vinh Linh district of Quang Tri province.

More than 100 doctors and staff from Viettel - Phu Tho province branch and the provincial General Hospital offered free screening for cardiovascular diseases for over 3,000 locals in Phu Tho and neighbouring localities.

The Cu Bai Border Station in Quang Binh province coordinated with Mai Dung Co., Ltd, to present gifts and provide free medical examinations and medicine to disadvantaged households in Huong Lap commune of Huong Hoa district.

The delegation handed over 285 gifts worth VND500,000 each to poor households and offered free medicine for nearly 200 local people. Cu Bai Station also cooperated with related organisations and enterprises to build four houses for policy beneficiaries and families with special difficulties in the area.

On the occasion, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has decided to spend more than VND5.2 billion in visiting and presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries in the locale.

In addition, several agencies, units and enterprises in the province organised missions to visit and offer gifts to beneficiary families and national contributors in Dak Lak.
