Taking me along the village road that had just been paved with concrete, Mr. Bui Van Khanh, the Head of Tien village, Thung Nai commune (Cao Phong) says: This year the hamlet received 3 projects invested in by the State. This is an upgraded concrete road project with a length of 1.7km, and it wass completed 2 months ago. Previously, many trucks passed through the road from the commune center to the small hamlet for many years, so it was deteriorated. Now it has been expanded with the thick concrete and it is convenient for vehicles to travel and avoid each other, so the people are very excited.

The domestic water project in Tien village, Thung Nai commune (Cao Phong) has been completed and put into use.

Along with the road project, Tien hamlet received the handover of the domestic water project. There is a water system in the hamlet, however, due to many years of use and the poor management and maintenance, the water supply to the households is unstable. There are times when many households have to beg for water or use unsafe water sources. The newly invested water project is the wish of the local people. The hamlet has elected 2 people to take the resposibility for the management and operation. Water is pumped from the well to the filter tank and then through the tank to be supplied to the households. The state has invested in the water meters and pipes to bring water to the households. The price of domestic water in the village is set at 4 thousand VND/m3. The collected money is used to pay for the operators and for the pump maintenance and repair work. Since coming into use, the water supply has been stable.

Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, a resident of Tien hamlet, says: My house is near the end of the hamlet. Since the State invested in the centralized domestic water project, the water flow has been stable. In a disadvantaged, sparsely populated neighborhood, we are very excited when the State has paid attention to investing in a pump system, filter tank and a path leading to our home.

At the project for the cultural house in Tien hamlet, the teams of workers are urgently pouring the foundation and roofing to complete the items. The project will soon be completed and handed over to the hamlet for use.

Ms. Bui Thi Luyen, the Chairwoman of Thung Nai Commune’s People's Committee, says: In 2 years (2022 - 2023), the investment capital of the National Target Program for the socio-economic development in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas funded by the district’s Department of Ethnic Minorities have invested in 8 projects in the commune, including traffic works, classroom buildings in Chieng hamlet, classroom buildings in Mu hamlet, roads, running water, and cultural house in Tien hamlet, renovating the cultural houses in Moi and Nai hamlets. Most of the projects have been completed and put into use so far. Some projects are being completed and is handed over to the locality in December 2023. The projects have practical significance for the difficult areas. Particularly, Tien hamlet has been invested in 3 projects to consolidate the infrastructure and become a key hamlet in developing lake tourism. In Tien village, there are 146 households living along Hoa Binh lake, their lives depend on agriculture. In the coming time, the commune plans to turn Tien village into a village to develop tourism in the form of homestay. The projects under the National Target Investment Program have brought joy to the people in disadvantaged areas, and they are also a lever for the socio-economic development for the commune to soon reach the goal of the new rural area.
