Speaking at the event, Khanh affirmed that implementing the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, Hoa Binh province always takes tree planting and afforestation as an important task, associated with the comprehensive development of the province not only for today but also for future generations. Over the past years, the tree planting movement has achieved great results. The work of planting trees and afforestation continues to be implemented extensively and effectively, thus contributing to environmental protection and socio-economic development of the province, and improving the quality of life. On average, each year the province plants over 8,000 hectares of concentrated forests and 1 million scattered trees, and protects over 237,000 hectares of existing forests, helping maintain the forest coverage at more than 51%. Productivity and quality of forests are increasing, contributing to creating jobs, increasing income, and improving locals’ lives.

According to the plan, in 2024, Military Region 3 will plant 198,000 trees of all kinds and 30 hectares of forests, while Hoa Binh province will plant 5,700 hectares of concentrated forests and 906,000 scattered trees of all kinds, and protect 100% of the existing planted forest area.

To realise the goals, Military Region 3 and the provincial People's Committee asked the armed forces, agencies, units, and localities to better dissemination and education to raise awareness of officers, soldiers, and people on the role, significance and humane values of tree planting, afforestation, and forest protection.

More efforts are needed to concertedly implement solutions to plant, care for and protect trees; promote the application of scientific and technological advances to improve the productivity, quality and value of crops; regularly organise inspections and assessments, learn from experiences; and promptly praise and reward agencies, units and individuals with achievements in these works.

After the launching ceremony, leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, Military Region 3, ministries, sectors, and Hoa Binh province planted trees at the provincial High Command to create a green landscape and a clean and beautiful environment.
