In recent years, the Women's Union of Phu Cuong commune (Tan Lac) has actively been responding and implementing the patriotic campaigns and emulation movements launched by all levels, sectors and locality. Through the movements, many projects and works bearing the mark of women have been carried out effectively, creating a strong spillover effect, typically the "Green House” and "Women's Flower Route” models.

The members of the Women's Union in Lam Luu hamlet, Phu Cuong commune (Tan Lac) have been respondin to the "Green House” model.

Realizing that in the commune there is no centralized waste collection and gathering point, many areas do not have garbage collection vehicles, most used plastic bottles are thrown indiscriminately, causing unsanitary conditions, directly affecting the environment. From that situation, Phu Cuong Commune’s Women's Union has implemented the construction of a "Green House” model that not only creates a clean and beautiful environment but it also helps the women in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Bui Thi Tam, the Chairwoman of the Commune’s Women's Union, says: The model has been deployed to all members from the beginning of September 2023. Although the initial implementation encountered many difficulties in propagating to the households, with the determination of the women in the union, the model has gradually changed the people's awareness of waste plastic collection and building a green - clean - beautiful environment.

The women discussed and déigned the "Green House” with a steel frame, corrugated iron roof and mesh wrap around to ensure that it is suitable. It has a height of 1.3m and a width of 1.1m with the criteria of being compact and lightweight, sturdy, convenient to use, and it can be moved. Currently, in the entire commune has there are 3 "Green Houses” located at 2 market locations in Lam Luu and Tam Bat hamlets and Da Trang Pass tourism destination in Buoi Cai hamlet. Th initial implementation of the "Green House” model, they have collected nearly 10kg of plastic waste, sold for 600 thousand VND, and the above amount of money was transferred to the women and children in especially difficult circumstances. Ms. Bui Thi Mai, the deputy head of Lam Luu hamlet’s women's union says: "After being propagated about the "Green House” model, I and the other women in the union were very excited to participate, and we save the collected money from selling plastic waste to visit and encourage the members who are in difficult circumstances.”

Phu Cuong Commune’s Women's Union has 11 branches with over 1,300 members. With the motto "small jobs, great meaning”, the model not only received a positive response from the people and the union members but it also spread to the students of the schools in the area. Nguyen Dieu My from Class 9a1, Phu Cuong Primary and Secondary School, Phu Cuong commune says: From the "Green House” model, we are more aware of environmental protection, helping the living environment to be optimally protected.

In parallel with implementing the "Green House” model, the "Women's Flower Route” model has been actively deployed by the Commune’s Women's Union to contribute to implementing environmental criteria in building the new rural area. The branches of Lam Luu and Tam Bat hamlets were chosen to pilot the model. Thanks to the members' efforts, the roads seem to be "put on new colors” with all kinds of colorful flowers such as Muoi Gio, purple afternoon, spruce flowers... Among them, Lam Luu hamlet built 200m of flower roads, Tam Bat hamlet built 400m flower road with the total cost of 10.5 million VND.

Ms. Bui Thi Thuy, the Chairwoman of Tan Lac District’s Women's Union, says: Phu Cuong Commune’s Women's Union is one of the typical grassroots unions in implementing the movements launched by all levels, sectors and locality. The union has creatively implemented the "Green House” model to protect the environment, classifying the waste and bringing the practical results. Hopefully, there will be many good models that can be replicated for other branches to learn and follow”.
