In 1962, after learning about such a new type of school in this mountain area, then President Ho Chi Minh, despite a myriad of work amid the newly gained independence and peace in the north, visited teachers and students of the school as well as ethnic people in Hoa Binh province. He said: "This is a school, not a farm” and sent a precious message to the school’s teachers and students as well as younger generations nationwide: "Studying well, working well. Trying forever, advancing forever.”
